What's included

Office furniture disposal that works around you

Office furniture is heavy, bulky and usually needs to be gone by a certain date, whether that's a lease end, a remodel start or the delivery of new workstations. JunkHaulAwayPros sends a crew that clears it efficiently, follows your building's rules and keeps disruption to your team as low as possible.

  • Scheduled around your hours. Before opening, after close or on weekends.
  • Cubicles taken apart. Panels, worksurfaces and storage disassembled on site.
  • Building rules followed. Freight elevators, loading docks and protection.
  • Donation and recycling first. Usable furniture goes to nonprofits when possible.

Whether it's a handful of broken chairs or an entire floor of workstations, the crew scales to the job. Multi-day projects and phased removals can be planned around your move or renovation timeline.

A closer look

Getting more life out of office furniture

Commercial furniture is built to take years of daily use, so a desk or chair that’s no longer right for your office often has plenty of life left. Schools, nonprofits and community organizations are frequently looking for sturdy workstations and seating, which makes office furniture one of the best categories for reuse.

Getting it there takes a little planning. Furniture that’s clean, complete and removed carefully has the best chance of being donated. Cubicle systems are especially useful when panels, worksurfaces and connectors stay together, and filing cabinets are most valuable when they come with their keys.

Not everything can be reused. Broken chairs, damaged laminate desks and stained fabric panels usually aren’t accepted by donation partners. Those pieces are taken apart so metal frames and hardware can go to scrap recyclers, and only what can’t be recovered is disposed of.

Whatever its final destination, the furniture still needs to leave your office efficiently. That’s where scheduling matters most: removals happen around your team, follow your building’s rules and finish on time for your move, renovation or new furniture delivery.

Planning ahead also helps with new furniture deliveries. Scheduling removal a day or two before the new pieces arrive gives your team an empty space to clean, adjust cabling and confirm layouts, so the installation crew can work quickly and your office is back to normal sooner.

On pickup day

What to expect when the crew arrives

Office furniture removals are planned to minimize disruption. The crew coordinates with building management, protects common areas and works efficiently. Here's how the day goes.

1

Confirmed in advance

Your arrival window is set ahead of time, including early, late or weekend slots when you need them.

2

A walkthrough on site

Your contact shows the crew what's going, what's staying and any building rules to follow.

3

Efficient removal

Background-checked pros protect floors, walls and elevators while they load everything out.

4

Left ready to use

The space is swept, and items are sorted for donation, recycling or disposal.

Scheduling

During business hours or after close

Every office has different needs. Some prefer the crew to work while staff are present, while others want the job done when the building is quiet.

During business hours

The crew works around your team, clearing one area at a time. Good for smaller jobs and offices that stay open during removal.

After hours & weekends

Early mornings, evenings and weekends keep disruption to a minimum. Best for large removals and occupied buildings.

Check with building management about freight elevator reservations, loading dock access and certificates of insurance, and share requirements when you book.

Responsible disposal

Office furniture, reused and recycled

Commercial furniture is built to last, and much of it has plenty of life left. After removal, usable desks, chairs and storage are offered to nonprofits, schools and reuse organizations whenever possible.

Metal desks, filing cabinets and frames go to scrap recyclers. Wood and particleboard are recycled where accepted, and only what's left is disposed of at approved facilities.

Commercial buildings

Freight elevators, loading docks and occupied floors

Office removals often happen in busy buildings with shared elevators, loading docks and neighbors who still need to work. There may be strict hours for moves and requirements to protect walls and elevators.

Crews pad elevators, protect corridors and coordinate with building management to stay within allowed times. Large furniture is disassembled in place so it moves quickly and quietly through common areas.

Share the building address, floor, elevator details and any move rules when you book. That lets us plan crew size and timing that fit your building.

Good to know

Office removal checklist

1

Empty desks and files

Remove documents, supplies and personal items. Shred confidential paperwork before pickup.

2

Check building requirements

Many buildings need advance notice, elevator reservations and a certificate of insurance for vendors.

3

Phase large jobs

Big offices can be cleared floor by floor or over several days to keep business running.

Quick prep

Before removal day

A little preparation keeps office furniture removal fast and smooth.

  1. Empty everything. Clear desks, drawers and filing cabinets.
  2. Tag what stays. Label furniture that isn't going.
  3. Book the elevator. Reserve freight elevators and docks.
  4. Name a contact. One person to meet the crew on site.

Weighing your options

Using your own staff?

Asking employees to move heavy desks and filing cabinets pulls them away from their jobs and creates injury risk. You'd still need trucks, tools for disassembly and a plan for where everything goes. Many dumpsters and landfills charge extra for bulky furniture, and donating it yourself takes time to coordinate.

Office Furniture Removal FAQ

Office furniture questions

Don't see your question? Send us a note and we'll get back to you within one business day.

Can you remove furniture after business hours?

Yes. Early morning, evening and weekend removals are available so your team and customers aren't disrupted. After-hours work is especially common in occupied office buildings, where elevators and hallways are busy during the day. Let us know your preferred window and any building restrictions when you book, and the removal will be scheduled around them. Crews also protect elevators and hallways so neighboring tenants aren't affected.

Do you take apart cubicles?

Yes. Cubicle panels, worksurfaces, overhead bins, pedestals and connectors are disassembled on site and removed. Larger systems can take time, so let us know roughly how many stations you have when you book. If any cubicles are staying, mark them clearly. Electrical and data connections in powered panels should be disconnected by your facilities team or electrician first. Labeling panels by workstation can help if you're keeping part of a cubicle system.

Can our office furniture be donated?

Often, yes. Desks, chairs, tables and storage in good condition are valuable to nonprofits, schools and community organizations. Donation depends on the condition of the furniture and what local organizations are accepting at the time. Pieces that can't be donated are recycled where possible, with metal going to scrap recyclers, and only the rest is disposed of. Clean, complete pieces with all their parts have the best chance of being accepted.

Can you handle a large office or multiple floors?

Yes. Large office removals are planned in advance with enough crew members and trucks to finish on schedule. Jobs can be phased by floor or department to keep parts of the office running during the removal. Share the square footage, number of workstations and your deadline when you book so we can plan the right approach. Phasing also gives your team time to settle into new furniture as old pieces leave.

What about confidential documents in desks and files?

Please remove and shred any confidential documents before pickup, or use a certified document destruction service. Crews remove furniture and won't sort through files. Empty every drawer and filing cabinet ahead of time, including keys. If you need a shredding partner, a document destruction company can often schedule the same day as your furniture removal. Collecting all filing cabinet keys before pickup makes the furniture easier to reuse.
